Electrospinning Synthesis and Photocatalytic Activity of Mesoporous TiO2 Nanofibers

چکیده
Titanium dioxide (TiO(2)) nanofibers in the anatase structure were successfully prepared via electrospinning technique followed by calcination process. The morphologies, crystal structure, surface area, and the photocatalytic activity of resulting TiO(2) nanofibers were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen sorption, and UV-vis spectroscopy. The results revealed that calcination temperature had greatly influenced the morphologies of TiO(2) nanofibers, but no obvious effect was noticed on the crystal structure of TiO(2) nanofibers. The photocatalytic properties of TiO(2) nanofibers were evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) in water under visible light irradiation. It was observed that TiO(2) nanofibers obtained by calcination at 500°C for 3 hours exhibited the most excellent photocatalytic activity. We present a novel and simple method to fabricate TiO(2) nanofibers with high-photocatalytic activity.

Efficient Photocatalytic Activities of TiO2 Hollow Fibers with Mixed Phases and Mesoporous Walls
Currently, Degussa P25, with the typical mixed phases of anatase and rutile TiO2, is widely applied as the commercial photocatalysts. However, there are still some of obstacles for the P25 nanoparticles with totally high photocatalytic activities, especially for the catalytic stability due to their inevitable aggregation of the nanoparticles when used as the photocatalysts. In the present work,...
متن کاملPhotocatalytic Self Cleaning Textile Fibers by Coaxial Electrospinning
Photocatalytic self-cleaning textile fibers have been created using coaxial electrospinning. This is accomplished by electrospinning cellulose acetate as the core phase and a dispersion of nanocrystalline TiO2, a well-known photocatalyst, in the sheath phase. A simple deacetylation step after the initial electrospinning yields self-cleaning textile fibers. Self-cleaning activity is exhibited at...
متن کاملOne-step electrospinning route of SrTiO3-modified Rutile TiO2nanofibers and its photocatalytic properties
The SrTiO3 modified rutile TiO2 composite nanofibers were synthesized by a simple electrospinning technique. The result of XRD, SEM and TEM indicate that the SrTiO3/TiO2 heterojuction has been prepared successfully. Compared with the TiO2 and SrTiO3, the photocatalytic activity of the SrTiO3/TiO2 (rutile) for the degradation of methyl orange exhibits an obvious enhancement under UV illumination...
متن کاملSynthesis of mesoporous TiO2-SiO2-Ag and investigation of its structural and photocatalytic properties under visible light and ultra-violate
In this project, mesoporous titanium oxide-silicon oxide doped by silver (TiO2-SiO2-Ag) was hydrothermally synthesized. Titanium isopropoxide, tetraethyl orthosilicate and silver nitrate were used as precursors for TiO2, SiO2 and Ag, respectively. Initially TiO2-SiO2 mesoporous nanocomposite was synthesized with weight ratios of silica to titania SiO2:TiO2:3:1 via hydrothermal method at 70˚C an...
متن کاملNovel-structured electrospun TiO2/CuO composite nanofibers for high efficient photocatalytic cogeneration of clean water and energy from dye wastewater.
It is still a challenge to photocatalytically cogenerate clean water and energy from dye wastewater owing to the relatively low photocatalytic efficiency of photocatalysts. In this study, novel-structured TiO2/CuO composite nanofibers were successfully fabricated via facile electrospinning. For the first time, the TiO2/CuO composite nanofibers demonstrated multifunctional ability for concurrent...
